Blacklighting for Moths

August 22 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Former Goodwin Naturalist Juan Sanchez returns for an evening program.  We’ll be setting up a mercury vapor lamp to attract moths, as well as special ‘sugaring’ sites to attract these denizens of the night. We have no idea what we will find but should be able to identify a dozen or so. Some of the moths may be very large and dramatic, but others may be tiny micros only a ¼ of an inch long. Either way it will be fun to discover what is flying around in the woods at night!  We suggest you wear light long pants and a long sleeved shirt; insect repellent may also be necessary.

Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are encouraged.
