Clo Pratt: Life After Slavery

March 15 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Tammy Denease, accomplished actress and storyteller, will portray Clo Pratt who was born into slavery, but granted her freedom by the terms of the will of her mistress. She then had the considerable challenge of learning to prosper as a free person. Clo earned her living by hiring herself out as a servant and making clothes with her loom. Her new life of personal freedom is set against the backdrop of some of the events that led to freedom for the Colonies, including the meeting between General George Washington and the Comte de Rochambeau, commander of the French forces in America, to plan for a joint campaign against the British at Joseph Webb’s house in Wethersfield where Clo was a servant.
