Event Navigation

A “floorcloth” is a painted canvas alternative to a more expensive carpet. These durable, colorful floor coverings were popular in 19th century America and fit well into both traditional and modern rooms. Participants also learn how to take a design and adapt it for use on their future projects. Participants will finish a 24” x 36” floorcloth.

Instructor:
Nancy Sherren is a decorative arts painter who operates her business from her home, the 1793 Morris Brown House in Providence, RI, a National Register House.  She has studied early American Decoration at Rhode Island School of Design and the Fuller Craft Museum.  A retired school teacher, Nancy has been engaged in research and application of early American design and preservation for nearly 20 years.
