Michael Tougias speaks at Opacum Fundraising Dinner

September 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us in Sturbridge on Wednesday, September 20th
to hear NY Times best-selling author
Michael Tougias present on King Philip’s Indian War, and his wonderful explorations of the Quabbin area.

Bringing together his research and experience as an outdoorsman, historian and writer, Tougias will talk about the rich history that has shaped our region – first focusing on the bloodiest war fought on North American soil – King Philip’s War – which devastated the colonial and Native American communities of our region, and then addressing one of the greatest fresh water supply systems in the world – the Quabbin Reservoir which dramatically transformed the central Massachusetts landscape.  Tougias’ book,”Quabbin: A History and Explorer’s Guide”  shares not only its history, but present-day opportunities for hiking and discovering remnants of its past life.
