Is the Public Really Safe on Your Farm?

August 22 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Free

LEARNING THE KEYS TO SUCCESS IN AGRITOURISM
As a farmer who invites the public onto your farm or perhaps as a fair operator who manages a petting zoo, it is vital that you take certain steps to protect the health of the public and the animals. This FREE training workshop, hosted by the USDA Veterinary Services, in cooperation with the state departments of agriculture and public health, aims to maximize your knowledge in order to minimize the risks on a variety of agritourism operations. It will focus on topics such as overall farm safety risks, the relationship between animal health and public health, best practices to keep your livestock healthy, farm liability, and much more. This full day workshop will involve speakers from various federal, state, and university extension agencies with a wide array of knowledge about many of the agritourism-related topics.
FREErisk assessment toolkits and various signage will be available to attendees.
