Treasures of the Forest: A Study of Local Terrestrial Orchids

January 13 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

In the middle of winter, take an afternoon to think about spring! Connecticut is home to more than 70 species of terrestrial orchid, many of which go unnoticed. Join Deb Field for a look into two common local species, the pink lady slipper and the downy rattlesnake plantain orchid. Deb Field spent the 2017 growing season studying the distribution of these plants on a local Joshua’s Trust property as part of her Master Naturalist certification, will be continuing to collect data and lead a series of walks on the property in 2018.

Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are encouraged.
Pre-registration is not required unless otherwise noted.
