Wetlands in Winter Hiking Mini-series: Black Spruce Pond

November 11 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

A surprising amount of activity is still taking place in Goodwin Forest in the early winter. Join Master Naturalist Deb Field for a moderate hike around two of our wetland habitats and we’ll see what we can find. Sturdy hiking shoes recommended. If conditions are icy, spikes and/or hiking poles are a good idea as there are some rocky/rooty trail sections. Snow will cancel. Meet at the kiosk on Eleventh Section Rd (at the intersection of Bartlett Rd & Nutmeg La) for a 2.5 mile hike around Black Spruce Pond.
Deb Field is a certified Goodwin Master Naturalist and has been a marine & environmental science educator for 25 years. As an avid day-hiker, birder, and gardener, her main goal is teaching people of all ages the importance of developing an understanding of Nature as it surrounds us. She lives in Chaplin, CT with her husband, 2 cats, an assortment of fish, and a tortoise named Djaq.
