March Member Program Postponed

March Member Program Postponed

*** We’re going to have to postpone the Maple Sugar tour scheduled for this Saturday until further notice. There is still too much snow for Steve to get around in the woods where he maintains his sugar bush and he has been unable to tap his trees.  If things change and we are able to reschedule we’ll let you know through this website post and Facebook.

March Member Program
Maple Sugar Tour at Town Line Tree Farm
Saturday, March 14th
10 am – noon
86 Weeks Road, Eastford, CT

The sap will be flowing, the weather will be warmer, and that means Maple Sugar season in The Last Green Valley. Join us as we return to Steve Broderick’s Town Line Tree Farm and Sugar House in Eastford, CT, for one of our most popular TLGV Member programs.

We’ll begin in the sugar bush where Steve has spent several years in the cultivation of a healthy stand of maple sugar trees. Here he will explain the biology of maple sugar trees and how to tap them for optimal production. A short walk to the sugar house will allow members to learn how the sap is boiled down to make syrup. The program is followed by a sampling of fresh maple syrup on ice cream – a wonderful treat and great way to enjoy local maple syrup. No cost to members, but registration is required.   Please call The Last Green Valley at 860-774-3300 to sign up, or e-mail Bill Reid.
