Nipmuck State Forest – Snowmobiles

Directions: From the intersection of Rtes. 190 and 171, proceed easterly 1.3 miles to the entrance of Bigelow Hollow State Park on Rte. 171. The Nipmuck Forest snowmobile trail begins at the first hiker information sign on the right after entering the park. Parking for limited number of vehicles. Starting in an easterly direction, the snowmobile trail traverses an old woods road and serves two-way traffic for a short distance. The remainder of the run forms a series of loops providing considerable adjustment for time and distance. 9 miles of trails, moderate operator skill required especially in narrow passages. Some fees.

MORE: We encourage those who love off-road vehicles and snowmobiles to enjoy trails designed for those purposes.  Be sure to pass this information on to your vehicle-loving friends in The Last Green Valley! Join a riding association and learn about private land riding options, too.

At the current time, neither Connecticut nor Massachusetts has any public areas open to quads in The Last Green Valley’s 35 towns.  Additionally, there are no Connecticut state-managed areas open to dirt bikes.
