TLGV Member Program – Cleanup Day at Horizon Wings in Ashford, CT

Please join us as we help one of our partner organizations, Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation Center, located at 9 Sand Hill Road, Ashford, CT, with their annual spring cleanup on Saturday, April 15, from 9 am – noon.

Horizon Wings is a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center specializing in birds of prey. Horizon Wings’ mission is to rehabilitate birds of prey for release into the wild in order to maintain their population, and to educate the community to enhance environmental awareness.

All of Horizon Wings’ funding is provided by educational programs and donations. They have several raptors that cannot be released back into the wild due to their injuries and fortunately they are able to keep these birds at the center and, with a special permit, use them for educational programs.

During the annual cleanup day, volunteers help rake leaves and clear debris that may have accumulated around the grounds of the facility. Horizon Wings has several large buildings that need regular maintenance and upkeep as well as the grounds and support facilities.

Following the cleanup, TLGV members can enjoy pizza and snacks as well as the chance to meet some of the program birds, in particular the bald eagle Atka and golden eagle Chrysos.

Please join us for a fun and educational day as we work together to help this important nonprofit doing good work here in The Last Green Valley.  For planning purposes, please RSVP to Bill@tlgv.org or call 860-774-3300.
