Sponsored by Friends of Jacob Edwards Library and Cohasse Country Club.
The Jacob Edwards Library and Cohasse Country Club are pleased to host a presentation by Dr. Mark Wagner.
It’s the spring of 1916. American Optical is driving Southbridge’s vibrant economy, and the expansive Wells Family are shaping the city’s culture. Over the following decade, out along Eastford Road, The Olmsted Brothers and Donald Ross, aided by the Wells Family wealth, will combine to shape a lasting gem in the landscape south of town: Cohasse Country Club, which emerges as a focal point of recreation, social engagement, and an enduring civic pride.
Dr. Mark Wagner has written extensively on golf architecture and golf history. His essay on Olmsted, Ross, and Cohasse Country Club appears in the July issue of Golf Course Architecture. He teaches writing at Worcester State University.
