Community Faces: Humanizing the Immigrant Label

September 12, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

On Display in the Community Room

Sixth grade students from New London’s Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication (ISAAC) tell the human story of immigration with a local lens and help break stereotypes associated with the label “immigrant” in the United States today. Earning widespread local and national media coverage, these students produced a beautiful interactive book filled with original photography and stories from humans in our Southeastern Connecticut community who have immigrated to the United States. They have spoken at the State Capitol as they accepted a prestigious award for their work that positively impacted the lives of Connecticut immigrants, and continue to present throughout the northeast with an interactive art exhibit of their learning.  .

Two students, Yainiliz Lopez and Shem Adams, will give a presentation in the Community Room on Wednesday, September 12, at 6 – 7:30pm.  They will also be available to answer questions about the exhibit.
