Discover the Yantic River TRBP Floating Workshop

June 14 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Registration is now open for the 19th annual Thames River Basin Partnership Floating Workshop. The cost of
this year’s Floating Workshop is $25, and will include a light lunch. Pre-registration required.
The Yantic River is one of the nine regional watersheds upstream of the Thames River main stem. Did you
know that the Yantic River is a popular whitewater paddling destination and a Trout Management Area with
some areas restricted for fly fishing only? Because of its special qualities, the Yantic River was designated a
State of Connecticut Greenway in 2013.
We will begin this year’s workshop at the Bozrah Town Hall, where Neal Hagstrom of CT DEEP Fisheries will
give a talk about the CT DEEP Trout Management Program. As we transition to Riverwalk Park on Stockhouse
Road, we will learn about rain gardens and how they help protect water quality. We will have a light lunch at
the park, then break into groups to visit several hands on learning stations including water quality monitoring
and interpretation, introduction to underwater bugs and the story they tell us about water quality, and a fly
fishing lesson by our Partners at Thames Valley Trout Unlimited.
There will be optional morning activities, sponsored by the Town of Norwich. Sign up information for these
programs are on page 2 of this form.
This year’s Floating Workshop is funded in part by Millennium Power through The Last Green Valley and in
partnership with the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District. For more information, call Jean Pillo at 860-
928-4948 or email at Jean.Pillo@Comcast.net.
Registration must be received by June 7, 2019. Any late registrations must be confirmed through Jean Pillo.
Registration is limited to 45 people. Please make your check payable to the Eastern Connecticut
Conservation District, and mail it with the completed registration form http://thamesriverbasinpartnership.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/FW2019RegistrationForm.pdf

Optional morning activities sponsored by the Town of Norwich
