Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue is hosting a birthday bash/open house for its educational ambassador opossums. Founded by Pam and Bill Lefferts, Ferncroft is located at 661 Route 171 in Woodstock, CT. Admission is $5.00 per person, with children 6 and under free. Registration is needed.

Attendees will meet Ferncroft’s resident opossums:  Bella and Mango. These opossums have injuries that would keep them from surviving in the wild. The clinic and rehabilitation pens will be open for tours and, since it’s spring, there may be rescued baby opossums (joeys) on site.

Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education (Ashford, CT) will present a birds of prey program, featuring Atka, the bald eagle. Riverside Reptiles Education Center (Enfield, CT) will bring seven of its amazing animals.

Rangers from The Last Green Valley and staff of The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Pomfret will have information tables. Activities will include coloring, corn hole, and ring toss.

Pam’s children’s book, From Couch to Pouch: Why Lavender the Opossum Lives in a House will be available for a donation to the rescue.

There are three ways to register for the event:  www.paypal.me/FerncroftWildlifeRes or www.venmo.com/u/Pam-Lefferts or

Saturday, April 30, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM

A note must be made stating number of tickets and morning or afternoon session.

Because of the opossums and other animals, pets must be left at home.
