Historical Society to Sponsor Women’s History Month Program
On Thursday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 7 Providence Road (Route 6), Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Historical Society will sponsor a program in honor of Women’s History Month entitled Follow the Cannon: Clara Barton’s Civil War Letters.
Lynne McKenney Lydick award-winning actress, will portray Clara Barton (1821-1912), the former schoolteacher from Oxford, Massachusetts who earned the sobriquet the “Angel of the Battlefield” for her hard work under trying and dangerous conditions and her compassionate care for the wounded Union soldiers during the Civil War. Ms. Lydick will take us back to those challenging times to “meet” this brave and empathetic nurse.
The program is free and complimentary refreshments will be served following the presentation.
