Introduction to Ice Fishing

Don’t let the winter doldrums keep you cooped up inside – Ice Fishing is a great
way to spend time outdoors with family and friends, while getting some fresh air
and exercise!
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection – Connecticut Aquatic
Resources Education (CARE) program is offering FREE ice fishing classes.
The CARE programs introductory ice fishing classes are held around the state and
will teach you everything you need to know to start ice fishing. Topics discussed
include – how to dress for the cold, ice safety, ice fishing equipment, what baits to
use, what fish you will catch, how to drill a hole in the ice and use a tip-up and jig
rod, and much more!

Programs are free unless otherwise noted. Donations are encouraged.
