Music of the Revolutionary War Era

May 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

On Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 7 Providence Road (Route 6), Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Historical Society will sponsor a program in honor of the 301st anniversary of the birth of Brooklyn’s Revolutionary War hero General Israel Putnam (1718-1790).
Accomplished musician, historian, and instrument maker Joseph Morneault will perform and discuss the music of General Putnam’s time in the program Music of the Revolutionary War Era. The program will include familiar songs such as “Yankee Doodle,” which, it is claimed by some historians, was sung and played in every patriot camp during the war as well as less familiar songs of the era such as “There was a Jolly Miller.”
The program is free and complimentary refreshments will be served.
