Night Sky Adventures — Lunar Eclipse
A relatively rare event takes place on May 15th. We will be experiencing a Lunar Eclipse. It’s Sunday night so maybe a mental health day on Monday might be appropriate. The eclipse begins at 9:23PM and last until around 2AM. This will be a full moon – the only time it can occur when the Earth gets between the Moon and the Sun. Come out to the Girl Scout Camp Laurel in Lebanon for the show. Bring something to sit on or lay on the ground to observe this event. Bring a telescope and/or a camera on a tripod and take some pictures as Earth’s round shadow crosses over the near side of the Moon. If you need help using your telescope this will be an excellent opportunity for us to help you as the show is slow moving.
