Northeast Connecticut Community Orchestra Winter Festival Concert

December 22 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Northeast Connecticut Community Orchestra (NCCO) will present its 8th winter concert, playing an all Baroque program on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. at Clark Chapel, Pomfret School, Pomfret. Parking is across Rte. 169 from the stone chapel.

Singers from the Concert Choir of Northeastern Connecticut (CCNC) will join the string orchestra for selections from Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat and concertmaster Barbara Horn will perform violin solos on Vivaldi’s famous Winter Concerto.  The program includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 and music by Henry Purcell from the Baroque era comedy “The Virtuous Wife: or, Good Luck at Last.” There will also be a unique opportunity to enjoy John Nisbet accompanying the orchestra and soloists on harpsichord.

The orchestra, founded in 2012, now has two dozen violinists, violists, cellists and bass from throughout eastern Connecticut.

Conductor and Music Director Dylan Lomangino said that he is “thrilled to be presenting some of the finest and timeless works of the Baroque era. It is humbling for one to experience the profound writing of composers such as Bach, Purcell and Vivaldi.”

Admission is free. Donations are welcome.
