Poetry Readings at the Park
July 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This summer at Roseland Park, 205 Roseland Park Road, Woodstock, CT, nine featured published and awarded poets will present their work in a series of readings that are free to the public. The June and July readings will be held in the lovely outdoor amphitheater (covered pavilion if rain), and the September event will be held in the quaint and rustic barn, courtesy of the park. Mrs. Warinsky is also in the process of lining up musicians to play at each event, and each event will include “Featured Open Mic” readers (new or lightly published poets) and an open mic segment for the audience.
There are several new voices involved in this year’s series including Tony Fusco, poet laureate of West Haven, CT, and Margaret Gibson, the current poet laureate of Connecticut (2019-2022)
Fusco is the Past President of the Connecticut Poetry Society, and Margaret Gibson has received numerous awards including the Melville Kane Award (co-winner) for Memories of the Future, (1986), and the Connecticut Book Award for One Body, 2008, among others.
Returning to the series are Candace Curran, twice-named Western Massachusetts Poets’ Seat Laureate; National Beat Poet Laureate (2020) Paul Richmond, and Montreal Prize finalist, Karen Warinsky.
The schedule is: July 17 (Roseland): Sunday, 2-4 p.m. Featured Readers: Candace Curran, Tony Fusco, Eve Rifkah; Featured Open Mic reader, Michael Milligan.
