While exploring Canterbury’s oldest cemetery, learn about Eastern Connecticut Colonial stone carvers Hartshorne, Wheeler, the Mannings and others. View their works and locate the graves of Major James Fitch, founder of Canterbury, General Moses Cleaveland, founder of Cleveland, Ohio and other notable burials. The talk will be conducted by David Malloy, moderator of the Facebook group “Early New England Gravestones, and the Men Who Made Them.” Cemetery entrance is on a slight incline.
