 10/01/2022 @ 10:30 am

Join Historian Donna Dufresne on a guided tour of the remains of the Higginbotham homestead in the Mashamoquet uplands of the Townshend Tract of Nightingale Woods, owned by Wyndam Land Trust in Pomfret. Donna will guide us through the history of the property including the Higginbotham’s industrial endeavors, and their neighbor, Jonathan Randall’s enslaved Africans buried in the Randall/Higginbotham Cemetery. The walk will begin at the trailhead at Taft Pond Road and end at the memorial stone for the enslaved Africans of Jonathan Randall at the burial ground. The hike is moderate depending on the trail conditions and rainfall. Sponsored by Historian Donna Dufresne & Wyndham Land Trust, wyndhamlandtrust.org
