Hop River Tour #1: The Mills

 10/02/2021 @ 9:00 am

Visit the site of water-powered mills that operated on the Hop River from the early 1700’s until the early 1900’s. See dams, flumes and races, sluice gates and more. Hear the history of the various mills including grist, saw, iron works, fulling and cotton textiles. Because the advent of the railroad was critical to the success of later mills, this tour will be followed by one that focuses on the history of the railroad. Sponsored by Columbia Historical Society.
