Mars Party – A Night Sky Program

 10/10/2020 @ 7:00 pm

Join Lead Night Sky Rangers Kim and Geoff for a night under the stars in the cool crisp autumn air. This Walktober, Mars is making its closest approach on the 13th, so join our rangers on the nights of the 9th, 10th, 16th, or 17th when Mars should be clearly visible. Also up in the sky will be Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune – a great night to investigate the planets. The Moon won’t rise until late in the evening so looking at a few Deep Sky Objects will also be possible. Ranger Geoff will guide the telescopes while Ranger Kim points out some of the constellations and describes how to find the North Star. Appropriate for all ages. Please, only guide dogs are allowed due to the sensitive astronomy telescopes. Bring blankets or ground coverings or chairs, snacks – hot cocoa is encouraged, and dress for the chilly weather. We will have the ability for folks to take pictures using cell phones. Please ensure your flash is turned off. Sponsored by The Last Green Valley and McLean Research, www.McLeanResearch.com
