Ride the Shetucket

 10/02/2021 @ 10:00 am

Take a leisurely paddle down the Shetucket River at your own pace, stopping along the way, if you wish, to enjoy the pastoral beauty of The Last Green Valley. Ride the Shetucket is an event sponsored by the Town of Sprague. It is not a group activity, but shuttle service between River Park in Baltic and Scotland Dam is available between 9 am and noon for drop-offs and will be available until all registered participants are off the river. Distance is 4 miles and takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on individual energy level as well as water volume. Average time is closer to 1 .25 to 1.5 hours. There are no rapids on the river although you may encounter some “quick water” if there has been recent rain. You will need a distress whistle and a PFD. If you prefer a shorter trip ( 2 miles), you will have the option of entering or exiting the river at Salt Rock Campground off Rt. 97 in Sprague. To check event status go to the Town website for most recent updates beginning the Thursday before the event, ctsprague.org. or call Lou Dzialo at 860-237-2537.
