Self-Care Through Mindful Emersion in the Forest

 6/14/2025 @ 10:00 am

Slow down, breathe deep, take in the natural world around you. Introduction to Forest Bathing with Certified Nature Guide, Beth Reel Imagine a practice that could help you reduce stress and find calm and peace in nature. The research-based practice of forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku as it is known in Japan, is just that practice. By slowing down and using all our senses, we will cultivate a connection with nature with many health benefits including the reduction of stress hormones, reduced blood pressure and heart rate, and an increase in cognitive functioning, creativity, and overall happiness. We will meet at 10:00 am on June 14, 2025 at the Chaplin Road (Route 198) entrance to the Natchaug State Forest in Eastford. Look for the brown sign on the east side of Route 198. Please wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions. This session will take place unless we have thunder/lightning storms, high winds, or it is downpouring. Please bring your raincoat and water-resistant shoes if it is a damp day. This walk is being sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Windham County Affiliate. We believe that before you can care for others, you first need to practice self-care.
