Stafford Community Wide Cleanup

 4/22/2023 @ 9:00 am

Organized by the Town of Stafford — in partnership with local civic organizations, boards/commissions, nonprofits, parishes, and youth groups — the Stafford Community Wide Cleanup invites all citizens to join in a grassroots spring-cleaning movement on Saturday, April 22, 2023. From 9:00am to 2:00pm families, friend groups, neighbors, civic organizations, and businesses are invited to join forces by picking up litter from yards, parks, streets, open spaces, waterways, and other natural areas. Volunteers are asked to register in advance at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSctLyVBGn_relgsf60RpafIt6rMjkS-oJKEGUps0Q8OCbKdiw/viewform, submitting approximate number of participants in their respective “cleanup crew” and selected cleanup location (for example, “Heritage Park” or #1-100 Leonard Road, etc.). All registered participants will receive free cleanup kits – designated collection bags, gloves, and safety vests – and access to no-cost event day trash disposal (subsidized by the Town of Stafford Transfer Station). Participant check-in/supply pickup is from 8:00am – 10:00am on April 22 in Hyde Park, behind the Historical Society Museum (2 Spring Street). Participants also have the option to pick up supplies in advance at Town Hall (1 Main Street) on Wednesday, April 19 from 2:30 – 4:30pm or Thursday, April 20 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Registration is used to track progress, distribute supplies, and calculate the miles of land area covered. The goal of this event is to remove litter from the environment, help beautify our town, unify neighbors for a rewarding and productive day, and make Stafford a more enjoyable place to live and play! In 2022, >100 volunteers removed approximately 1200 pounds from 23-miles of land in Stafford. The objective is to exceed numbers in all areas this year.

After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic in Hyde Park (Downtown Stafford) from 12:00pm – 2:00pm with food, music, and hands-on Earth Day activities. The event is hosted by the Town Events & Celebration Committee in collaboration with the Stafford Garden Club, Rotary Club of Stafford, Stafford Library, Stafford Lions Club, Stafford Agriculture Commission, Congregational Church of West Stafford, and more.
