The Sturbridge Trails Committee is sponsoring a trails cleanup day on April 15, 2023 from 8:30 to 12:00 pm. All volunteers will meet at the Riverlands Parking lot located at 52 Stallion Hill Road in Sturbridge. The event will focus cleanup and maintenance activities across the properties maintained by the committee which include Riverlands, Leadmine, Heins Farm, Plimpton, Long Pond, and the recently acquired property on Fiske Hill Road. This cleanup effort will support the town wide street cleanup effort as well. There will be small cleanup teams dispatched to each of the Sturbridge Trail properties and associated streetways approaching the properties. Volunteers will walk the trails picking up trash along the way, removing downed wood, cutting brush back, paint marking the trails, and removing trash from trail parking lots. The cleanup effort will support the committee’s efforts to keep the trails clean and available to all. Any recyclables will be collected and sorted before being transported to the Sturbridge Recycling Center. All remaining trash will be disposed at the Sturbridge Recycling Center.
