The Stone Boat

 4/15/2023 @ 10:00 am

An unusual, large stone cairn is located atop Rattlesnake Hill in the Natchang State Forest. Its long axis is aligned with the Pole Star. The cairn seems to have been constructed according to some plan rather than just being a deposit of cleared stones. One’s first impression is that it resembles a boat. Could it be a Norse “ship burial” such as found in Europe? An easy hike to see an interesting stone formation. Hosted by TLGV Member Rusty Lanzit.
