FREE Community Puppet-Building Workshop
April 16 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
In this one-day workshop hosted by Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry and led by alumnus Tom Tuke, we will design and decorate a miniature puppet city, Puppet-Town, and its residents.
Participants will be encouraged to design characters for our city, and are invited to perform in a short puppet show, A Busy Day in Puppet-Town, which we will create as a group over the course of the workshop.
Students will learn about Connecticut puppeteer, Sidney Chrysler, and his string puppets and miniature theaters. Chrysler performed magnificent puppet operas for his friends in Chaplin, CT in the late 20th century.
This workshop is designed for students 5-16 years old. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Participants are welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop or for just a portion.
Seats are limited and reservations are required.
Free, donations greatly appreciated!
