Music at the Amp

June 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until June 29, 2024

The Friends of the Garden on the Bridge are thrilled to announce that musical performances are returning to the Amp this summer. Maggie Macha has generously taken on the role of booking agent for the Amp, and she’s already lined up two acts. First up is Rusty Macha, performing Saturday, June 22, followed by the trio Seldom Heard, Saturday, June 29. Both concerts begin at 7 pm and will last about an hour. Rain date for Randy is Sunday, June 23; for Seldom Heard, rain cancels.

The Amp is located at the Garden on the Bridge, 440 Main Street, Willimantic CT 06226. Just walk across the Bridge and under the RR trestles, and you’ll be there. Come and enjoy the unique ambiance, with granite seating tucked into the Hillside and the sound of the river (or sometimes a train!) in the background. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, or cushion — and a snack or drink, too. The performances are free, but donations are welcome. And if you have a yen to perform, or know someone who does, get in touch with Maggie at mags12260@gmail.com.

Rusty is a well-known local singer, actor and acoustic guitar player. He’ll be performing hit songs from Cat Stevens, Paul Simon and many others. Seldom Heard is an acoustic trio based in Mansfield. The singers — Howard Drescher (vocals & guitar), Lee Terry (vocals & mandolin), and Tom Terry (vocals & upright bass) — have been together for 20 years and love to harmonize, offering a repertoire drawn from folk, pop, and light rock music, as well as some originals.
