Poets at Large
November 25, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The second of this special fall series of spoken word and poetry readings from the Poets at Large group. The group’s coordinator Karen Warinsky will MC the events. This month will feature UCONN English Professor Julie Choffel and distinguished poet Doug Anderson. Choffel is the author of The Hello Delay, The Chicories, and most recently The Inevitable Return of What We Do Not Love. Anderson has written about his experiences in the Vietnam War in both poetry and nonfiction, perhaps most known for his poetry collections including The Moon Reflected Fire, the winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Anderson served as a combat medic in the Vietnam War, and after Vietnam attended the University of Arizona, where he studied acting. He started writing poetry after he moved to Northampton, Massachusetts, and worked with the poet Jack Gilbert.
