Need to make time to work on an America 250 program grant? We’ve got you covered. First, join TLGV for a special talk at the Prudence Crandall Museum with Museum Curator Joanie DiMartino. Joanie will discuss the museum’s ongoing evolution and commitment to better convey the complex story of the Canterbury Female Boarding School. Get inspired by learning how museum staff aligned with America 250|CT goals in its pursuit of equal and equitable access to education for all people. Afterwards, for America 250 Part II (see Walktober #111), we’ll gather at the Finnish American Heritage Society Museum for a special hands-on grant-writing workshop to help YOUR organization prepare for America 250 commemorations in 2026! Participants will be able to brainstorm and begin drafting individual proposals with museum experts that meet the goals of TLGV’s America 250 Framework and grant offerings, as well as CT Humanities grant programs. Participants will be treated to a tour of the newly-renovated and updated Finnish American Heritage Society’s Museum and Archives, followed by a light dinner (soup and sandwiches) before getting to work on grant proposals for YOUR organization. Additional updates and funding opportunities from nonprofits, state and federal agencies will also be shared. Space is limited to 30 participants and RSVP is required by emailing Lois@tlgv.org. Sponsored by The Last Green Valley, Prudence Crandall Museum and Finnish American Heritage Society, thelastgreenvalley.org, ctvisit.com, fahs-ct.org
