The Last Green Valley is home to more than 100 species of edible wild plants, some of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. Join Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known and Eaten, for a two-hour ramble through the Plimpton Community Forest in Sturbridge to learn about at least 18 species of edible wild plants. Pending favorable weather conditions, we may encounter some edible wild mushroom species as well. Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, as well as info on edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods, along with info on safe, ethical and environmentally responsible foraging. Registration required by calling 860-774-3300 or emailing bill@tlgv.org. Sponsored by The Last Green Valley and Opacum Land Trust, thelastgreenvalley.org, opacumlt.org
