Have you ever wanted to hike an entire trail in Connecticut but were reluctant to do it alone? Instead join Friends of Pachaug Forest as we lead you along the entire Nehantic Trail in beautiful Pachaug State Forest. This is the third hike of a 3 hike series in 2024 to complete the entire 14 mile trail (we did the first hikes in June and Sept 2024), This will be the shortest hike of the series, a moderate 3.5 mile trek on rocky and rugged trails. We will start at the Beachdale Pond overlook on Headquarters Rd. near the Smokey Bear sign on Rt. 49 and hike to where the Nehantic Trail crosses the Trail 2 gravel road. This hike has multiple elevation changes as it climbs to the summit of Mt. Misery, descends and then climbs high up onto Stone Mountain ridge. Arrive at Beachdale Pond Overlook parking area by 9 am to allow time to shuttle vehicles to the end of the one way hike before we start hiking.
