Celebrate America 250 through a local perspective at the Revolutionary Pomfret Reenactment and Living History Event. Several New England Revolutionary War reenactor groups including American and British will be demonstrating battle scenes and maneuvers throughout the weekend, including the kinds of training experienced by the 11th Regiment in the original training grounds in Abington. The event will include live demonstrations of Colonial crafts, textiles, and the running of the sheep. Multiple programs will take place throughout the weekend, including: a reenactment of the 11th Regiment being mustered, examined, and enlisting followed by the Prayer to the Soldiery from a local primary document; a Bean Suppa at Abington Congregational Church followed by a debate between Loyalist Godfry Malbone, and Patriot, Israel Putnam; a visit with Israel Putnam; live music, children’s games, and a wreath laying ceremony at Old Abington Burial Ground for the 60 Revolutionary War soldiers buried there.
