The tiny St. Anthony Chapel, built by Joseph Candido Delgado and blessed by St. Mary’s Church on July 4, 1926; 100 years ago, this year. The interior of the Chapel is 16 ft. long, 9 feet wide. The Chapel was built at its original location on 165 Talman St. The Chapel is a symbol of the arrival and establishment of Cape Verdeans in the City of Norwich. On August 6, 2003, the Chapel was listed on the State Register of Historic Places. The Chapel was razed on Oct. 29, 2004, and a Replica rebuilt and blessed on April 29, 2006. The Chapel is the story of a young man who had a dream and how it became a part of the historic fabric of Norwich and the Cape Verdean Community.
