East Brookfield Town Common is within a section of East Brookfield long known as “Podunk,” Vizard’s Common was given by a private citizen in 1931 to the new town with the stipulation that a World War I memorial be placed there. More monuments for World War II, the Korean & Vietnam Conflicts were added. An ornamental rail fence and commemorative bricks enhance & the Common is surrounded by the former town hall, library, senior center, general store, and various 19th-century structures. A short stroll, but a thoughtful one as you reflect on the sacrifices made. No fee.
