Perseids Party Campout
Join TLGV, Friends of Pachaug and CT DEEP's No Child Left Inside program for a weekend of Night Sky Adventures, hiking, fishing, crafts, campfires and much more! As details are confirmed we will add to the general schedule.
Camping is free at the Youth Camping Area and available on a first come, first served basis. If you have an RV, please reserve a site at the Mt. Misery Campground. Programs will be held in both the youth camping area and the field adjacent to the Mt. Misery Campground. They are walking distance from one another. If you reserve a spot, please let us know that you are coming by using the form below or emailing Fran@tlgv.org
Aug. 9 to 11 at Pachaug State Forest
Friday, Aug. 9
3 pm and later — Arrival and site setup
5 pm — Karate
6 pm — Meet Danny the Horse
7 pm — Make a letterboxing kit
8 pm — Campfire & s'mores. Constellation stories & ask Lead Night Sky Ranger Geoff astronomy questions.
9 pm - 10 pm — Night letterboxing. Must sign up at the 7 pm session.
9:30 pm — Night sky viewing starts with Saturn's rise. Observation opportunities occur throughout the night.
Saturday, Aug. 10
9 am to 4 pm — DIY Crafts and games
9 am — Meet Danny the Horse
9:30 am — Family Yoga
10 am — Make a letterboxing kit
10:30 am — Morning hike
Noon — Campfire Cooking 101, Session 1
1-3 pm — Sun Spots & Solar Flares
1 pm — Mission to the Moon: Touchdown, a STEM activity
2 pm — Mission to the Moon: Launch It, A STEM activity
3 pm — Crafts
4 pm — Scavenger hunt
5 pm — Karate
7 pm — Campfire Cooking 101 - DESSERT!
8 pm — Campfire, S'mores
9 pm —Night letterboxing
9:30 pm — Night sky viewing
From 9 am to 3 pm, the NCLI team will be hosting a Saltwater Fishing Day Event at Fort Trumbull State Park
Sunday Aug. 11
9 am to Noon — DIY crafts
11 am — TLGV Junior Night Sky Ranger Badge Ceremony
Families are welcome to stay at Pachaug all day, but must pack up their sites in the afternoon. Pachaug State Forest closes at dusk to anyone who is not camping.
