TLGV & Sprague Historical Society Team Up For Woven From The Land Program

Join us for a TLGV Adventure: Woven from the Land, 10 am, Feb. 17 at  Sprague Grist Mill, 76 Main St., Baltic, CT. Once home to one of the largest textile mills in the country, Sprague’s Baltic Village remains an intact example of an intentionally designed mill company village and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. But before Baltic became a bustling mill town, the land and waters had already woven mill tradition into the town’s history, as evidenced by the still-standing Grist Mill. Baltic Village sprang up in the late 1800s to serve its 3,000 residents—nearly the same number residing in the entire town of Sprague today, more than 150 years later. Join TLGV and Sprague Historical Society for a presentation about Sprague’s industrial and community history, followed by a look at the museum’s fascinating collection of items and photos in the town’s historic Grist Mill.
