Become a Water Detective at May 26 Acorn Adventure

The Last Green Valley Ranger Jean Pillo will lead the May 26 Acorn Adventure, Underwater Exploration. The adventure will be held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., May 26, at Mashamoquet Brook State Park, 276 Mashamoquet Road, Pomfret, CT 06259. Become a water detective for a day and prepare to get wet and find out what lives under the water in a stream. Ranger Jean, a professional biologist, trains TLGV’s water quality monitoring volunteers to search for bugs that are indicators of a stream’s health. Ranger Jean designed a program for kids to help her catch and examine the squigglies living in the brook and figure out how healthy Mashamoquet Brook is.

The water will likely be cold and waterproof boots are recommended. Meet at the Acorn Adventure sign after you pass the parking area for the swimming pond.

Acorn Adventures are a monthly series of programs designed for children 12 and under. All ages are welcome to join in the fun. The programs are always free thanks to the generosity of Putnam Bank, the exclusive sponsor of TLGV’s Acorn Adventures.
