
America 250: The Battle of Fairholm Farm

The towns of Thompson, Woodstock, and Putnam are proud to sponsor the kickoff event for America’s 250th celebration with a weekend of history, honor, and heritage at The Battle of Fairholm Farm, taking place October 11–12, 2025 at 80 Chandler School Road, Woodstock, CT.
Over 200 Revolutionary War reenactors portraying American, British, and French soldiers and civilians will converge on the 200-acre Fairholm Farm to bring history to life in this large-scale reenactment of an 18th-century battle. Visitors will experience the sights, sounds, and spirit of the American Revolution through live demonstrations, family-friendly activities, and an immersive encampment.
Highlights include:
- Artillery Demonstrations
- Children’s Muster and Drill
- Fife and Drum Performances
- 18th-Century Medical Tent Demonstration
- A special visit from General George Washington on Saturday
The encampment opens to the public at 10:00 AM both days. The Battle of Fairholm Farm will be fought at 2:00 PM on Saturday and 1:30 PM on Sunday. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and explore the encampment before the battle begins. A food truck will be available for those who would like to purchase lunch onsite.
“This event is a wonderful way to bring our communities together while honoring the courage and sacrifices of those who fought for America’s independence,” said Amy St. Onge, First Selectman. “We invite the public to join us for this exciting kickoff to America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.”
The event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome. Admission and parking are free.
