Calling All Members for Trail Cleanup!
Join TLGV staff and rangers 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m., April 21, at the Wolf Den Land Trust Otsby Memorial Forest, Opposite 83 East Old Route 6, Hampton, CT. We will team up with Wolf Den Land Trust (WDLT) and members of the Eastern Connecticut Forest Landowners Association to clean up the hiking trails at the Otsby Memorial Forest in Hampton.
The strong winds and heavy snows of this past winter dropped many branches on the trails and property and there is also considerable brush to be removed near the trail head. Two clean up sessions are being organized with the first from 10 a.m. to noon, and the second from 1-3 p.m. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and stay for both sessions. We’ll supply water and snacks as well.
We’ll have people operating chainsaws and powered brush cutters. Hand tools including rakes and brush cutters will be available, but you’re encouraged to bring your own. Make sure to bring work gloves, wear heavy boots, and bring tick repellant.
RSVP is suggested but not required. E-mail Bill Reid at bill@tlgv.org or call 860-774-3300. Rain Cancels. Directions: The Otsby Memorial Forest is located on East Old Rote 6 in Hampton. It is a half mile northwest of Route 6 in Hampton. There is a Wolf Den Land Trust sign for the tract opposite 83 East Old Route 6. Park along side of the road.
