12/11 Acorn Adventure – Hibernating Habits

When: 10:00 am – Noon

Where: Mansfield Hollow State Park, Bassetts Bridge Road, Mansfield Center, CT, USA

What: Winter is coming and the cold can be serious here in The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. Our animal friends can’t come in from the cold and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate, so what do they do? We will take a hike around Mansfield Hollow State Park as we learn about who is hibernating and what that means. We’ll also look for signs of animals who are still active all winter long and talk about how they adapt. Kids will also have a chance to touch the pelts of some of our winter wildlife.
