Earth Day Cleanups Abound!

Join your family, friends, and neighbors in sprucing up The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor – join a cleanup and make a difference!  Participate in an Earth Day cleanup on Friday, April 22, and then keep the spirit alive by participating in another cleanup on Saturday, April 23!  Funding for these cleanups has been provided in part by The Last Green Valley, Inc. (TLGV).

Maples Farm Park and the Town of Bozrah are planning an Earth Day cleanup of Maples Farm Park and trails on Friday, April 22, from 4 -7 pm. Work gloves, trash bags, drinks, and pizza will be provided. Contact Miria Toth at 860-984-5523 or email miria@snet.net for more information.

Sprague will be holding its town-wide cleanup on Saturday, April 23, from 10 am – 1 pm. Meet at the Grist Mill parking lot. Pizza for all volunteers at 1 pm! For more information, contact First Selectman, Cathy Osten at 860-822-3000 or email Andre Trudelle at grantsdept@ctsprague.org.

Friends of Sturbridge Trails are meeting at 8 am at the Tool Sheds at 52 Stallion Rd. on April 23.  Parking is available in an OSV lot.  The 8 am – noon cleanup takes place rain or shine.  Bring bug spray, work gloves, and water.  For more information, contact Fritz Reeve at fritzr@charter.net or call the Town Hall at 508-347-2506.

Brooklyn’s cleanup will begin at 9 am on April 23.  Meet at the Community Center, 39 Tiffany Street.  Snacks and water will be provided.  For more information, contact Melissa Bradley at 860-779-3411 or email m.bradley@brooklynct.org.

The Groton Open Space Association will be hosting its annual Haley Farm State Park cleanup on April 23 from 10 am – 2 pm.  The rain date is April 24.   Meet at Haley Farm State Park.  Work gloves, trash bags, food and drinks will be provided to all volunteers.  For more information, contact Joan Smith at 860-536-9811 or email dsmith705@sbcglobal.net.

The Canterbury Lions Club town-wide cleanup will be held rain or shine from 9 am – 1 pm on April 23.  Meet at Canterbury Town Hall.  Trash bags will be provided, but please bring work gloves. For more information, contact Ray Shinkiewicz at 860 546-6717 or email Victoria.shinkiewi@sbcglobal.net.
