February Winter Adventures for the Entire Family

Join us to explore The Last Green Valley’s wide-open spaces this winter!

Shetucket Ramble, 10 am, Feb. 13, Franklin, CT. Join us on a winter walk along the Shetucket River in the southwestern corner of The Last Green Valley. We’ll walk along the old Norwich-Windham dirt road to reach the Shetucket, then we’ll enjoy a peaceful ramble along the banks of the river. Depending on conditions, we can walk up the ridge trail which includes a quick, steep grade before leveling off. The walk will be 2 to 3 miles. Registration and masks required. Parking directions will be given upon registration. Email Nick at Nick@tlgv.org or call 860-774-3300 to register and for details. Limit 15 people.

Acorn Adventure: Winter Wildlife Tracking, 10 am, Feb. 20, West Thompson Lake, Thompson, CT. Join Ranger Bill as we search for signs of our animal neighbors. Winter snow, or even frozen mud, can reveal tracks, but those are not the only signs of animals who pass by when we might not be looking! Acorn Adventures are sponsored by Putnam Bank, a Division of Centreville Bank. Masks and registration required. Email Bill at Bill@tlgv.org or call 860-774-3300 to register and for details. Limit 15 people.

Phillips Pond Hike: 11 am, Feb. 27, Voluntown, CT. Join us on a trip into the heart of CT’s largest state forest, Pachaug State Forest, as we admire its natural and historical legacy. The terrain of this approximately 4-mile hike is relatively easy, but elevation changes give this hike a moderate difficulty. Masks and registration required. Email Kyle at kyle@tlgv.org or call 860-774-3300 to register and for details. Limit 15 people.
