This segment of the Quinebaug River NRT is within the East Brimfield Lake Project of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is a designated Watchable Wildlife Area. Paddle downstream 3.9 miles to East Brimfield Lake Boat Ramp with little current, extensive wildlife habitat, 3 picnic landings and no portages. Excellent 3-hour outing for beginning paddlers and families,though once you enter the open water of East Brimfield Lake, strong winds can be daunting. Paddle conditions are best when flow is more than 50 cubic feet per second (cfs), as measured by the online USGS Streamgage at East Brimfield. Below 20 to 30 cfs, it will be a scratchy and weedy ride. No fee.
A dozen free parking spaces in the unpaved parking lot at the put-in & more in an adjacent lot.
