TLGV is proud to be the recipient of two prestigious awards.

First, the Connecticut Economic Resource Center presented TLGV with a Celebrate CT Award for the economic impact of 25 years of Walktober.  Walktober began as a “walking weekend” and has grown to the entire month of October with more than 200 walks, hikes, bike rides, paddles, and events, enhancing the tourism economy with  more than 60,000 attendees each year.   Thank you to everyone, particularly the volunteer walk leaders and our sponsors, who have made Walktober possible for so many years!

Second, the Working Lands Alliance selected TLGV for a Farmland Preservation Pathfinder Award in the category of “Outstanding Group for our “many valuable initiatives” to support agriculture in the National Heritage Corridor.  “In addition to the well-known Walktober tourism-promotion activities, TLGV has done outstanding work to promote sound land use planning, to sustain and expand agricultural economies in the region, and to highlight the importance of agriculture in the communities it serves.”  Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us to promote sustainable agriculture in The Last Green Valley!
