Join TLGV and Optical Heritage Museum Executive Director Dick Whitney for a private tour of the museum’s extensive collections and galleries. Celebrating the history and achievements of the American Optical company and the optical industry from the 19th Century to today, the tour will take us back in time to discover the origins of not just the optical industry, but the history behind many household items we take for granted today.

American Optical’s groundbreaking role was so critical in the development and manufacturing of optical products globally Southbridge was dubbed the “Eye of the Commonwealth.” American Optical became the world’s largest manufacturer of ophthalmic products, and at its height employed more 5.500 people in Southbridge and 13,000 people around the world.
