Ranger Kevin’s Walk Along the Air Line Trail
Meet The Last Green Valley’s newest volunteer Ranger & hiker, Kevin, as he leads us along the Air Line Trail on Saturday, May 2, from 1 pm – 4 pm. (Rain date is Sunday, May 3 if necessary). This is a flat, easy walk, totaling 4.2 miles one way.
Meet at the paved lot at “Pomfret Station,” 13 Railroad Avenue (off Route 169). We’ll have some cars parked at the Brooklyn Road destination to shuttle folks back to Pomfret Station (or walk back for more fresh air in your lungs, making the round-trip 8.4 miles!)
Note: There are other side roads along the way if you want to park along them, ride to Pomfret Station with a friend, then jump off the Air Line Trail sooner or if you are short for time.
These are the cross roads (be respectful of the land and home owners where the Air Line Trail crosses these roads).
Babbitt Hill Road is 1.3 miles away from Pomfret Station.
Covell Road is 1.7 miles away from Pomfret Station.
Cheney Road/Rte. 44 is 2.2 miles away from Pomfret Station.
Brooklyn Road (our destination) is 4.2 miles away from Pomfret Station.
We stress that this is a flat and easy walk.
Wear shoes that you can walk in. We’ll go slow and take time to look at some interesting things along the way. Dogs, leashed, are welcome, but you must pick up after them. A camera or binoculars may come in handy. Bring your family & friends. Bring water. Email Marcy or call her at 860-774-3300 with any questions.
